Head of Kerman Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Department Fereydoun Fa’ali said Kerman Province is among the top five Iranian provinces selected to host the one-week celebrations of World Tourism Day, CHTN reported.

Ardebil, Kermanshah, Fars, Kurdestan, and Kerman are the provinces to hold special ceremonies slated for Sept. 27-Oct. 4, commemorating this international day.

“Tourism for inclusive growth” is the theme for World Tourism Day 2021, said Fa’ali, adding that the programs of the one-day ceremonies in Kerman are organized according to this theme.

Referring to the existing capacities in the province, he said holding a conference on world tourism, holding several festivals, educational workshops and rituals, familiarization trips (fam trips), and visiting tourist attractions are among the proposed programs for this occasion.

The ancient city of Kerman, the globally registered sites of Lut Desert, Bam Citadel, Meymand village, Shazdeh Garden, and mud brick Rayen Castle are the top destinations for foreign travelers in the province.

World Tourism Day has been held on September 27 each year since 1980, according to unwto.org.

The primary motive behind the celebration of this day is to nurture the awareness of the importance of tourism and demonstrate its cultural, social, economic, and political values across the world. The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) leads the celebrations of World Tourism Day.

The 2021 UNWTO theme for World Tourism Day celebrations is: “Tourism for inclusive growth” and the international official celebration will be held in Cote d’Ivoire in Africa.
