The message was posted on January 30 on Domo Records website, an independent record label established by Eiichi Naito in Los Angeles.

"To the friends, family and all those people lost in the tragic catastrophe of January 19, 2017 in Tehran, Iran," the letter begins.

On behalf of the recording artist Kitaro, and myself, Eiichi Naito, we would like to send our thoughts and heartfelt condolences to those lost in the tragic event at the Plasco, the  17-storey building in Tehran.

"To all the brave firefighters and heroes who lost their lives and to all of the family members, we send our best wishes and tell you our thoughts are with you on this sad occasion," the letter ends.

Kitaro gave a performance in Tehran in October 2014. The composer won a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score in 1993 for Oliver Stone's "Heaven and Earth", and he won a Grammy Award for Best New Age Album in 2000.
