The 4th Kish Music Festival will be held in early March on Iran’s southern island, the director of the festival announced.

Badrieh Bahreini added that the festival was supposed to be held in late December, but this year it will be held from March 6 to 8, ISNA reported.

The reason for the date change was that the birth anniversary of the third Imam of Shia Muslims Imam Hussein (PBUH) and his brother Hazrat Abbas (PBUH), as well as the fourth Imam of Shia Muslims, Zayn al-Abidin (PBUH) fall on March 6, 7, 8, respectively and it will be a great occasion to celebrate on the island.

She added, “The first evaluation of the submitted works has started, and after the final review of the selection committee, the finalists, which are from Hormuzgan, Khuzestan, Sistan and Baluchestan and Bushehr provinces, will be officially announced.”

Hamid Hadi, Heydar Hedayati, Seyyed Hamidreza Hosseini, and Mohammad Haqgoo are the jury members of the festival.

The festival intends to introduce cultures, ethnicities and traditions based on the color of the southern coasts ranging from the Oman Sea to the Persian Gulf as well as the southern provinces of Iran, Bahreini noted.

The director of the festival stated, “The most important goals of the biggest music event on Kish Island are to pay attention to the island’s long history of music and culture, the prosperity of business on the island, introducing tourist attractions and acquaintances with the eco-tourism culture.
