The ninth International Fair of Friendly Cultures opened in Mexico City at the weekend, where the Institute for Development of Contemporary Art headed by Mahdi Afzali, represents Iran.

This year’s edition has chosen the theme of “Cultural Diversity” to promote values, traditions, beliefs and expressions of various cultures, within a framework of respect, recognition and tolerance.

Iran’s pavilion is dedicated to displaying Iranian-Islamic clothing and fashion, Honaronline reported.

The fair is an important international cultural event in Mexico, in which visitors have the opportunity to learn about the traditions, customs, identity and culture of the participating countries through different artistic, educational and cultural activities at their respective pavilions.

Established in 2009 as a collaborative project of the Mexican government’s General Coordination Office of International Affairs with different diplomatic representations accredited in the country, the cultural project is aimed at strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Mexico and other countries.It will run through June 4 at various locations in the Mexican capital.
