Scholars from Iran and France will convene at a seminar in Tehran to exchange ideas on Persian poet Sa’di of Shiraz (1210-1292) and French poet and novelist Victor Hugo (1802-1885).
The two-day "Seminar on Sa’di and Victor Hugo" is slated for April 18-19 at the Cultural Center of Book City Institute, located on Ahmad Qasir St., north of Beheshti St.
The event is jointly organized by Book City Institute"s Cultural Center, Shiraz-based Center for Studies on Sa’di, Iranian Embassy in Paris and the Hugo Study Center in France, Mehr News Agency reported.
The meeting starts at 4 pm and will be attended by Gholam Ali Haddad Adel, head of the Iranian Academy of Persian Language and Literature and executive director of the Islamic Encyclopedia Foundation.
A number of articles will be presented, including "Two Poets, Two Ideologies" by author and researcher in Persian language and literature Ahmad Samiee Gilani, 97; "Two Great Philanthropists" by Iranologist and master of Persian literature Mir Jalaleddin Kazzazi, 68; and "Victor Hugo, Orientologies and Persian Poetry" by French author and scholar Jean Marc Hovasse, 47.
Other articles to be presented are "Victor Hugo and Persian Poetry" by researcher and essayist Fatemeh Eshqi, who specializes in Persian and French literature; "Victor Hugo in Eastern Renaissance and Persian Literature" by faculty member of Tehran University"s French Department Tahmoures Sajedi; "Social and Political Photographic Reflections of Sa’di and Victor Hugo from their Society and Time" by writer, editor and columnist Fereydoun Majlesi; and "The Novelist Victor Hugo" by translator, playwright and theater director Asghar Nouri.
Also attending the event are contemporary Iranian writers including Mohamamd Reza Bayrami, Hamid Reza Shahabadi, Mohammad Hassan Shahsavari, Majid Qeysari and Mehdi Yazdani Khorram who will speak on "What I Learnt from Sa’di and Hugo."
