The second novel of Charles Dickens was first published in monthly installments in the Magazine Bentley's Miscellany from 1837 to 1839.The novel in 1838 was published in book form for the first time.

This is the story of an orphan, Oliver Twist, who endures a miserable existence in a workhouse and then is placed with an undertaker. He escapes and travels to London where he meets the Artful Dodger, leader of a gang of juvenile pickpockets…
