The ceremony was held in the presence of Iranologists, academics, university students and readers of Persian literature at the university in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia.
‘The Colonel,’ a novel about nation, history, and family was written by Dowlatabadi in the 1980s.
Born in Sabzevar, Khorasan Razavi Province, Dowlatabadi, 76, is a master in combining rural speech with the lyrical features of Persian poetry. He is particularly gifted in portraying the social and ethical problems of the poor, especially in the rural areas where he grew up.
His most famous novels are ‘Kelidar’, ‘Missing Soluch’ and ‘The Colonel’ which have been translated into Norwegian, German, English, Italian, and French languages and have been released in the West.
