Iran’s Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance said that Iranian philosopher Farabi is a leading figure in the structure of Islamic civilization and hit a glorious peak in Islamic civilization.

Referring to the views of great men of wisdom on Farabi, he said that Farabi was the founder of Islamic wisdom and philosophy.

One of the most important points in Farabi’s ability was explaining complex issues that is less common in the history of Islamic thought. Perhaps Mulla Sadra is most similar to Farabi in deciphering obscure and complex subjects, Esmaeili added.

Experts believe that Farabi is a philosopher of culture, because he has a deep view in explaining the issues of existence and has entered the cultural and artistic fields accordingly, the minister added.

The minister said Farabi belongs to the golden age of Islamic civilization and is a leading figure in forming the glorious Islamic civilization.

“With his eloquent language in wisdom and philosophy, in culture and arts, and in the explanation of political ideas, he hit the peak of Islamic civilization,” he said.

Farabi created a kind of harmony between Western (Greek) thought and Islamic thought and put it in the service of Islamic thought, Esmaeili said.

Farabi was regarded in the Arab world as the greatest philosophical authority after Aristotle.

Abu Nasr Mohammad Ibn Farakh Farabi was born in a small village Wasij, near Farab, in Khorasan, in 870 CE. His parents were of Persian descent, but his ancestors had migrated to Turkistan in Kazakhstan.

Farabi contributed considerably to science, philosophy, logic, sociology, medicine, mathematics and music. His major contributions were in philosophy, logic and sociology.
