The head of the Faculty of Philology at the University of Belgrade, Ljiljana Markovic, and Iranian Ambassador Hossein Molla-Abdollahi attended the opening ceremony.
Molla-Abdollahi expressed his thanks to Markovic for her cooperation in establishing the center and praised the officials of the university for their interest in Persian culture and literature.
He also said that the center will function as a favorite haunt of students, professors and Persian language aficionados, as well as a place for periodic cultural and academic meetings.
Markovic on her part said that the center will play a key role in disseminating rich Persian literature in Serbia.
Markovic visited the Sadi Foundation, a Tehran-based organization that promotes the Persian language abroad, in April 2017.
The establishment of the center is an outcome of a memorandum of understanding signed between Markovic and officials of the foundation.
