The play “Saadi, a Traveler from the Town of Love,” written by Alinaghi Razzaqi and directed by Zhoobin Qaziani, will narrate parts of the life of the classical poet.
“We want to draw the attention of foreigners to our culture and heritage,” Qaziani said adding that the play might also attract Iranian immigrants living in the North American country. The cast includes Mohammad Omrani, Majid Tafreshi, Mansour Firouzbakhsh, Mahboubeh Mojtahed, Manouchehr Salimi and Elnaz Rezaee.
The play will be accompanied by musical pieces composed by Alborz Rahmani, and performed by Sina Etehad (kamancheh), Sohrab Saebnia (santoor) and Naem Charkhi (percussion instruments). Abu-Muhammad Muslih al-Din bin Abdallah Shirazi (1210-1291), known by his pen-name Saadi, is known worldwide for his books Bustan and Golestan in which he presents a peculiar blend of human kindness and humor in the form of stories and personal anecdotes.
He is known as a Sufi master, mystic and metaphysician in the history of Persian literature.
