The session was attended by Alex Goh, the Oversea Business Manager at Sinolingua, a member of the China International Publishing Group (CIPG).

Sinolingua is the first publisher in China to specialize in Chinese language instruction and learning materials for foreigners.

The publisher specializes in producing books, audio-video products and multimedia software for the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language.

Speaking at the session, Alex Goh said that 60 percent of China’s publishing is carried out by Sinolingua, which was founded in 1986.

Over 200,000 new titles of books have been published in 2017, over 50 percent of which belong to books for children, he said.

He also said that there has been an increase in book sales sold in online bookshops, most of which include children books and books on social sciences.

He also noted that audio books have an increasing number of fans in China.

According to Goh, the Beijing International Book Fair will open a dedicated Children’s Book Fair, to run concurrently with BIBF from August 22 to 26, 2018.

The Tehran International Book Fair, which is currently underway at Imam Khomeini Mosalla, will run until May 12.
