He made the remarks in a meeting organized by the Zülfü Livaneli Cultural Center in Ankara on Thursday to discuss Iran’s post-revolution literature.
“We are very close to Iran, and at the same time, very far from the country,” Inal said during his speech at the meeting.
“As neighbors, we are close by, but we have remained distant from one another for some reason,” he added.
“We have heard a lot about Iran, but I have visited it directly and I found the country very different from what I had heard about it,” he stated.
He said that visiting Iran could help people gain an accurate understanding of Iran.
The meeting was organized under the auspices of the Iranian Cultural Office in Ankara.
Iran’s cultural attaché, Hassan Safarkani also delivered a speech at the meeting and said “Iranian literati are unaware of the literary changes in Turkey, and Turkish writers are also uninformed about the contemporary developments in Persian literature.”
He asked the scholars in both countries to help solve the problem.
Safarkani said that organizing such a meeting could help achieve mutual understanding.
