Titled ‘Book of 1396’ (1396 being the current Iranian calendar year), the exhibition will open September 22, according to Tandis online magazine of visual art (tandismag.com).

On display will be books by a group of artists including renowned figures such as artist, painter and sculptor Fereydoun Ave, painter and installation artist Homa Emami, graphic designer and typographer Reza Abedini, and painter Saeed Ravanbakhsh, manager of Charsoo Institute of Art and Culture in Tehran, who participated at the previous edition.

Painter, graphic designer and book artist Foad Farahani who curated the last edition with the support of Charsoo Institute, will display his work at the exhibit. Last year, he described art books as “personalized structures like a house. One can enter and stay in, or pause at spots and corners. Pages are (like) rooms and halls. Forward or backward can one browse the place; there is no fixed order for the spaces.”

In addition to Farahani and Ravanbakhsh, there are other artists who presented their works last year. They include Germany-based artist Sina Seyfi, graphic designer and photographer Behzad Motebaheri, multidisciplinary artist Elmira Mirmiran and painter Maryam Farshad.

Other participating artists include Ala Ebtekar, Hamed Jaberha and Amir Ali Qasemi. Not all the books to be on show are new as some were displayed at previous exhibitions.

The opening ceremony on September 22 will be held 4 to 8 pm. On the following days, except Fridays, Aaran Art Gallery is open to the public from 1-7 pm. The exhibition will run through October 9. The gallery is located at No. 12, Dey Alley, North Kheradmand Street, Karim Khan Ave.
