She was selected as the winner for her second novel “Tarlan” while writers from South Korea, Kenya, Lebanon, India Singapore, Haiti and Swaziland were among the nominees.

The book, which has been translated into German by Jutta Himmelreich and published by Sujet Publications in Germany in 2015, tells the story of a young girl, Tarlan, who dreams of becoming a writer but instead she chooses to go to the Police Academy.

LiBeratur Prize is awarded annually to inform about literary developments and trends in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

The award ceremony will take place at the Frankfurt Book Fair, which will be held from October 11 to 15.
