The 12th edition of the Tehran International Animation Festival will be held in person from May 29 to June 2, due to the decrease of coronavirus cases in the country, said the director of the event.

Mohammadreza Karimi-Saremi added that the festival was supposed to be held from March 6 to 10. However, the coronavirus surge postponed it to a later time.

The event will be held at the Center for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IDCYA).

Over 1,000 movies, from 85 countries, will be screened at the festival. The animations are from Japan, China, France, Austria, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Italy, Brazil and dozens of other countries.

There will also be 20 meetings on the sidelines of the festival.

About 460 Iranian animations will be competing in the national section of the festival.
