The minister  of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyyed Abbas Salehi wished all the best for the organizers of the 14th Iran International Documentary Film Festival, known as Cinéma Vérité.

Salehi’s message is as follows: “Documentary cinema is the clear language for portraying the unpretentious image of the high-minded artists of Islamic Iran. The cherished, concerned and searching look of the documentary filmmakers has found its true place among the people of thought and wisdom in recent years, and now it has more credibility and interest among art lovers.

“Cinéma Vérité is considered to be the intersection of the truth-seeking citizens’ vision and the efforts of truth-seeking artists. An increase in the participation of documentarians in this edition of the festival, especially the significant presence of female artists in this edition, indicates the consistency of the cultural event and its significance to cineastes. It also indicates the provision of a favorable environment for the representation of creativity and women’s capabilities in Iran.”

The minister added, “Despite all worries and hardships due to the coronavirus outbreak, the successful holding of this festival will shed light on our future and open a window to new horizons.”

The festival has several sections including National, International, and Martyr Avini Prize, Entrepreneurship Documentary Competition, Coronavirus Special Section and commemorations.

In the meantime, several expert workshops, master talks as well as master classes will be held in this international cinematic event.

The national competition section comprises the short, mid-length and feature-length documentaries.

The international section of this edition will be held in non-competition format due to the spread of the coronavirus.

The international section of the festival also includes numerous non-competition sections such Special Displays, Mirror of a Festival, Portrait, Perspective of One Country Documentary Cinema, Chile Documentary Cinema, Masters of 2020, as well as 13 Editions & 13 Films.
