Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyyed Abbas Salehi and a number Iranian cineastes attended a closing ceremony, which was held at the Kowsar Hall in the central Iranian city on Wednesday evening.
“Alone” is about five young teens who wake up to find that everyone else has inexplicably disappeared from their town, which is surrounded by a mysterious fog.
Russian critic Alena Sycheva, French filmmaker Gilles Lemounaud, German animator Julia Ocker, Georgian director Ketevan Janelidze and Iranian animators Omid Khoshnazar and Ali Nuri Oskui were the members of the jury.
Mohammadreza Hajigholami was picked as best director for his movie “Stammer” while the film’s star Sajjad Esmaeili was named best actor.
The Golden Butterfly for best screenplay went to “The Night I Swam”, a co-production between Japan and France written and directed by Kohei Igarashi and Damien Manivel.
The best feature-length fiction film award was presented to South Korean director Kim Jong-woo for “Home”, which also won the CIFEJ best film award which is presented by a jury of the International Centre of Films for Children and Youth (CIFEJ).
The special jury award went to Indonesian director Kamila Andini for her “The Seen and Unseen”, which is about a young girl who seeks out imaginative ways to cope with the death of her twin brother.
The best feature-length fiction film award was presented to South Korean director Kim Jong-woo for “Home” while “Just Go!” by Latvian filmmaker Pavels Gumennikovs won the Golden Butterfly for best short.
In the animated film competition, Ashkan Rahgozar won the award for best director for “The Last Fiction”, a story from Persian poet Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh.
The Golden Butterfly for best short animated movie went to “Run Rustam, Run”, which is about Rustam, a main character of the Shahnameh who travels into the future and comes to Tehran in 2017.
“Mission Kathmandu: The Adventures of Nelly & Simon”, co-directed by Pierre Greco and Nancy Florence Savard from Canada, was crowned best animated film.
