In its latest international screening, ‘Kupal’, directed by Kazem Mollaei, will compete at the 6th Delhi International Film Festival. The film had previously been accepted to go on screen in the 23rd Kolkata International Film Festival, which would mark the twentieth international screening for the work.

This year, Delhi International Film Festival will screen 20 films from various countries in its World Cinema section. Out of the 20 films, only 10 titles will compete in the international section of the event.

As Iran’s sole representative, ‘Kupal’ will vie against works from Argentina, Australia, Chile, Belgium, South Africa, Azerbaijan, Venezuela, Hungary and Colombia.

Established in 2012, Delhi International Film Festival will showcase different works in categories of feature film, short film, documentary and animated film. In the World Cinema section three awards will be granted to best feature film, best director and best actor.

‘Kupal’ narrates the story of a hunter and taxidermist who goes through an unfortunate incident by trapping himself in his basement with little food and no water, having to survive by using creative and desperate means. The storyline of ‘Kupal’ and the tagline is, 'you can’t be alone in this world!'

The 6th edition of Delhi International Film Festival will take place in New Delhi from 4-9 December.
