“Shooting films in other countries will open ways for foreign viewers to become better acquainted with the cinema of Iran,” Heidarian told the Persian service of IRNA on Friday.

Pointing to several Iranian film crews who are currently in Armenia to study film locations, he said that this is the policy of COI to have active participation in the international arena.

“Signing memorandums of understanding and agreements with other countries are among other policies of the organization to broaden international cooperation,” he added.

He also noted that the meeting of Iran’s Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Seyyed Abbas Salehi, and Armenia’s Minister of Culture Armen Amirian in Tehran last week was based on enhancing art and cultural activities.

Heidarian also called “Yeva”, a co-production between Iran’s Farabi Cinema Foundation and the National Cinema Center of Armenia, a big success.

Directed by Iranian-Armenian filmmaker Anahid Abad,“Yeva” has been selected as Armenia’s submission to the 90th Academy Awards in the best foreign-language film category.
