The document, exchanged between the culture ministries of the two countries, aims at promoting bilateral cultural cooperation, especially in the area of cinema, with an eye on historical and cultural ties between Iran and Armenia.

The agreement will be a foundation for long term cooperation with the National Cinema Center of Armenia in areas of research, festivals, technology, operations, film distribution and screening and education of human resources.

In the meeting between Alireza Tabesh, the director of Farabi Cinema Foundation and Shushanik Mirzakhanyan, the Head of National Cinema Center of Armenia, the two sides discussed different topics such as screening of the two country’s films, exchanging screenplays for joint production, plans to increase joint cinema productions, etc.

The directors of the two organizations signed the extendable agreement for a three-year period in Armenia’s Ministry of Culture on Monday, September 25.

In another meeting, Tabesh and Mirzakhanyan proposed strategies and suggestions which were embraced by both sides. Hence, Iran and Armenia will assign two professional teams in order to implement the proposals.

Prior to signing the agreement, Alireza Tabesh held a meeting with the Culture Minister of Armenia during which Kamal Sajjadi, Iran’s envoy to Armenia was also present.
